The 2024 Guide to Working on Campaigns

Campaigns are hiring NOW

A significant problem with campaign work has always been an over-reliance on word of mouth and personal networks.

Even if you have some volunteer or work experience, it can be tough to find opportunities to work to elect conservative leaders.

In 2024 however, experts are expecting significant talent shortages. The campaign industry has begun to adjust to that, and hopefully the movement will run more smoothly this campaign cycle.

I am currently hiring for a US Senate campaign in Florida, which you can view here: Communications and Advancement.

As a result, I was thinking about what the talent landscape currently looks like.

The top place to go currently is Republican Jobs

Republican Jobs has the most extensive recruiting operation for political campaigns. Connecting with the recruiting team is your best bet for getting your first opportunity, or for finding your next thing.

Other job boards

A few other job boards will occasionally have good opportunities. The Leadership Institute’s Conservative Jobs, GOP Jobs, Red Balloon, and Traverse Jobs will attract campaigns for job posts periodically.

Or do your own research

But, in my opinion, your best bet after Republican Jobs is to research the top 10 firms and issue advocacy organizations that you want to work for.

Network with their employees and keep an eye out for openings on their websites.

For example, the Republican Party is the first employer for a lot of operatives, and their affiliates in key states will often make big hiring pushes. Republican Party staff are notorious for positioning themselves for jobs directly with campaigns. So, it is not uncommon for the Regional Director with the GOP to suddenly work for the next congressman.

If you have a top issue that drives your involvement, then you may want to prioritize an organization that champions it.

If pro-life advocacy is your focus, then an organization like Catholic Vote, SBA List Pro-Life America, or Students for Life may be the way to go. AND, these organizations are more likely to have employment for you after the election is over.
